Heathrow ranks as the riskiest airport with 4.2 injury-causing collisions per 1,000 people every year, meaning that roads near this airport have 2.4 times the national risk. With the Labour government supporting expansion plans for a new runway at Heathrow the traffic and driving pressures around these roads are only likely to increase.
To enhance road safety, we need better data sharing and collaboration among insurers, drivers, and policymakers, alongside education on the dangers of speed, fatigue, and distraction.
